Conservative Think Tank Urges GOP to Stay Focused on Obama “Scandals”
The political strategy of artificially perpetrating crises to distract a nations’ people from the real problems, has been employed by many political parties in virtually every country.
In the U.S.A, although used by both parties time to time, the Republican Party appears to be the expert of this fake crisis creation technique. They became so outraged by a Marine holding the U.S. President’s umbrella at an outdoor speech that it is difficult to take them seriously when their outrage is directed towards something really worthy of outrage.
I am not a political historian, so I won’t begin to guess when and by whom this tactic was first set up. But in the U.S., we can trace it to so-called Think Tanks. Well funded, non-profit policy institutes that perform research and advocacy on topics such as social policy, political strategy, economics, military, technology, and culture.
One well known Conservative Think Tank is The Heritage Foundation. THF has an action group, or as they call it a “sister” organization, named The Heritage Action For America. The Heritage Action For America has recently sent a letter to the GOP leaders, urging them to continue focusing on the “scandals” that the White House has been battling the past few weeks. Yes, the IRS, AP and Benghazi “scandals”.
In the letter, the policy adviser Think Tank specifically urges GOP to avoid bringing any legislation to the House Floor that could give the press a reason to shift their attention away from the “scandals”, regardless of these “scandals” being actually proven by legal evidence or not. And the American public wonders why nothing gets done in their congress, especially with the lowest approval rating of the half century.
It is not definite yet if IRS can be charged for improperly flagging 501(c)4 applications of Tea Party organizations that publicly denounce paying taxes. Benghazi emails are under further scrutiny after the revelations that they could be doctored and not the originals. The DoJ’s confiscation of the AP’s phone records is also still under investigation. Therefore, until all the hearings are completed and legal framework is followed, we can’t assume wrongdoing. But, tell that to the Heritage Action For America and the GOP.
Would it not be great if Democrats pursued real scandals (e.g., Iraq, Plame, Bailouts) with the same relentlessness the GOP pursues bogus ones?
